Turning Data Into Clear Scientific Insight

Prizm Analytics was created to make scientific data analysis more understandable, approachable, and efficient.

Research generates enormous amounts of data, but collecting that data is only part of the process. Researchers also need to determine what their results mean, identify meaningful patterns and differences, create clear visualizations, perform appropriate analyses, and communicate their findings.

For researchers who are still developing their data-analysis skills, that process can quickly become overwhelming.

Prizm Analytics is designed to help bridge the gap between collecting experimental data and understanding what that data is telling you. By bringing analysis, visualization, statistics, and interpretation into one focused workspace, Prizm helps researchers spend less time figuring out how to analyze their data and more time thinking about the science behind it.

Why I Developed Prizm Analytics

I developed Prizm Analytics because I experienced this problem firsthand in my own research.

I could perform experiments, collect data, and understand the biological questions I wanted to investigate. But when it came time to analyze my results, I often struggled to understand where to begin.

Which analysis should I use? Which graph best represents the experiment? What do these statistics actually mean? How do I know whether I'm interpreting the results correctly?

I spent countless hours trying to answer those questions. Instead of focusing on what my experiments were teaching me, I was often spending my time learning unfamiliar software, figuring out how to format data correctly, troubleshooting analyses, creating graphs, and trying to understand the numbers the software produced.

That experience made me realize that there is an important difference between being able to generate an analysis and being able to understand it.

That became the idea behind Prizm Analytics.

I wanted to create the kind of tool I wished I had when I was learning to analyze my own research data: a platform that could simplify the technical parts of analysis while still helping the researcher understand the results.

Prizm Analytics was built from a problem I experienced myself: having the data, but not always knowing how to turn it into understanding.

The Meaning Behind Prizm Analytics

The name Prizm Analytics represents the purpose behind the platform.

A prism takes a beam of light and reveals the spectrum contained within it. What initially appears to be one thing can be separated into its individual components, allowing details that were previously difficult to see to become visible.

Prizm is inspired by that same concept.

Scientific data can begin as hundreds or thousands of measurements in a spreadsheet. On their own, those numbers may reveal very little. Through careful analysis and visualization, however, patterns, differences, relationships, and trends begin to emerge.

Analytics is the process of examining data to uncover those patterns and transform measurements into meaningful information.

Together, Prizm Analytics represents the process of revealing the information contained within scientific data.

Just as a prism reveals the spectrum within light, Prizm Analytics is designed to help reveal the patterns and results within your data.

Built for Researchers

Prizm Analytics is being developed with researchers in mind, particularly students and scientists who may be highly knowledgeable about their experiments but do not necessarily have extensive backgrounds in statistics, programming, or data-analysis software.

The goal is not to remove the researcher from the analytical process. The researcher should remain the person making scientific decisions and drawing conclusions from an experiment.

Instead, Prizm is designed to make the analytical process more transparent and accessible—helping researchers understand what was calculated, visualize what happened in their experiment, and make more informed interpretations of their own results.

You shouldn't have to become a programmer just to understand the data you worked hard to collect.

The mission of Prizm Analytics is simple:

Make scientific data analysis easier to understand without separating researchers from the science behind their results.

Research should be driven by questions, experiments, discovery, and understanding—not by hours spent struggling to figure out how to turn a spreadsheet into something meaningful.
